More exciting news from our group: Our congratulations to Prof. Dirk Heckl, who officially joined the Universitätsklinikum Halle as professor of Experimental Pediatrics yesterday! This comes after our group leaders had been separated between Halle and Hannover for over a year, ever since Henning became Head of Pediatrics in Halle in 2018.

Using state-of-the-art functional genomics tools like CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, Dirk will continue researching the molecular mechanisms that underlie acute myeloid leukemia development, including driving genetic factors such as chromosomal translocation and synergies between oncogene networks. With a better understanding of the underlying genetic basis of this disease, Dirk also aims to identify targetable windows for novel AML therapies.
